Established in 1982, the Wright Wine Company have expanded their range from wine, to now stocking over 1,200 whiskies, 500 gins, 200 brandies and 100 rums.
They say, ?We?re chosen by leading restaurants and Michelin-starred hoteliers to create award-winning wine lists and drinks menus and are respected due to our integrity and personal relationships with owners, sommeliers and managers. Our retail premises in Skipton is a must-visit ?Aladdin’s cave? of wine, gin, whisky, rum, vodka, sherry – with well over 600 bottles open to taste at any one time.?
Our events ambassador and retail co-ordinator, Steph Race, had the chance to ask Andrew Stark, their marketing consultant, a few questions.
What makes you unique/why do you think customers choose you?
1. Our range of products is second to none for a physical retail premises.
2. Our premises is everything a drinks retailer should be. An ?Aladdin?s cave?.
3. The knowledge and passion of our team. You simply don?t get that in some ?other? retail environments. All of them, from shop floor to back office, have a passion for what we do and what we sell and will often visit vineyards and distilleries themselves so as to better understand the manufacturing process. Additionally, all customer facing staff either have years of food/drink/hospitality experience or are in the process of obtaining various stages of WSET qualifications too.
So, when they are talking about Mason?s for example, it?s because they?ve tried it and understand its flavour profile, they understand how gin is made, and as it?s a local Gin, they will also have some knowledge of the producer too. (Customers love this).
What is your desert island gin?
A 1740 bottle of Booths Gin – just imagine!!
How long have you stocked Yorkshire Gin?
Since the beginning! We?ve stocked Masons since Masons became Masons…
What of the Masons range do you stock?
Yorkshire Gin, Tea Gin, Lavender Gin and Peppered Pear.
What is your perfect Masons serve?
Do you have any cocktail recipes/quirky serving suggestions?
In a highball glass. Just kidding, we always recommend plenty of cubed ice in a balloon glass. For Masons Dry Gin – Fever Tree Premium Indian tonic and a garnish of orange, pink grapefruit, ground pepper and fresh mint.
